Man Gunned Down on South Side Sidewalk

Chicago - A man was fatally shot on a South Side sidewalk Sunday.

The man was shot in the 6800 block of South Artesian Avenue at about 4:45 p.m. and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti said.

The 22-year-old black man was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 5:46 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. His name was not released pending family notification.

He suffered multiple gunshot wounds, a police source said.

No other details were available and Wentworth Area detectives were investigating the shooting as a homicide, Ursitti said.
