You're looking at hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of kush, a highly-potent form of pot. It's also known as bubba, paris or bubble gum on the streets.
The profit potential for kush is enormous.
One ounce of kush sells anywhere from $300-to-$700 hundred dollars, almost as much as crack cocaine.
Police in Chicago, the suburbs and nationwide say they've seen a spike in the sale of kush recently because it's easier to grow, more profitable and popular because it induces a zombie-like state.
Congressman Mark Kirk has had enough.
"We ought to increase the penalties because we don't want to create zombie-like kids who can't perform in school or athletically."
Backed by suburban police, Congressman Kirk says if you sell kush for the same price as cocaine, you should face the same penalties.
"I had not planned to introduce legislation regarding marijuana. After talking with my law enforcement, we are seeing that this is not your father's marijuana," Kirk said.
His proposed bill would increase maximum fines for kush dealers...up to a million dollars for individuals...five million for groups. He also wants a 25-year-sentence for kush dealers. But Kirk's bill doesn't go after possession.
