The promoter of a Chicago sports talk Web site has been charged with running an $11 million Ponzi scheme.
The U.S. Attorney's office says a federal arrest warrant has been issued for 48-year-old David Hernandez. He was charged Wednesday with mail fraud for allegedly cheating investors.
He's accused of running the Ponzi scheme through several businesses, including NextStep Financial Services and NextStep Medical Staffing IL.
Prosecutors say Hernandez used NextStep Financial Services to solicit investments through the internet and mislead investors about his products.
He helped launch " Chicago Sports Webio ," a Web site featuring sports figures and reporters. Authorities say Hernandez's whereabouts are unknown and that a search is being conducted.
