Police are seeking the public's help in finding a man who attempted to sexually abuse a 16-year-old girl on her way to school on the South Side on Monday.
At 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 16, a girl was walking to school in the 5000 block of South Loomis Blvd. when she was attacked, according to community alert issued by Wentworth Area detectives. According to police, the suspect grabbed the victim from behind and led her into an alley. She screamed and a witness in the vicinity came to her aid, causing the suspect to flee the scene, police said.
Police describe the suspect as a black male, 25 to 35 years old, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8, and 170 to 190 pounds. He also had a dark complexion, and short black braided hair. He was last seen wearing a dark leather jacket with a hooded sweatshirt underneath and dark blue jeans.
