A man was charged Sunday morning in a shooting that wounded three last week in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.

Dashonn Magette, 24, of the 3600 block of South Rhodes Avenue, was charged Saturday with three counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, according to a release from police News Affairs.

The shooting happened just before noon on Nov. 12 in the 8100 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, police News Affairs Officer JoAnn Taylor said.

Magette allegedly fought with a 27-year-old man the night before, and saw the man in an alley the next day, the release said. He then approached him holding a handgun, and the man attempted to flee.

As the victim ran, Magette chased and shot him, as well as two innocent bystanders who were in the alley, the release said.

A 46-year-old woman was shot in her left knee and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition, police said. A 56-year-old man was shot in his groin area and also taken to Stroger in serious condition.

The 27-year-old was shot in his left forearm, and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. His condition was unknown.

Magette was taken into custody after detectives learned about the Nov. 11 fight, the release said. He is due in bond court later Sunday.
