Naperville, Ill. - There was a big party in Naperville Friday as the Olympic gold medalist came home for Evan Lysacek Day.

He's being honored by his hometown for winning the gold in Vancouver last month.

He is the first U.S. men's figure skater to win gold since Brian Boitano did it in 1988.

The day started with a pep rally at his alma mater, Neuqua Valley High School.  Thousands of students cheered as he entered the auditorium and talked to them about how his school played a role in his life.

After the rally, the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a luncheon for the gold medalist.

Friday afternoon, Naperville's mayor planned to give Lysacek the keys to the city during a public rally.
