A man who police said was a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier has been charged with a sexual assault that occurred on the South Side in 2006.

Tommie Naylor, 41, of 7958 S. Yale Ave., was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated kidnapping, according to a police report. Naylor was arrested at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday at 7500 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Forest Park and the charges were approved Wednesday at 10:30 p.m, according to the report.

A post office is located at the Roosevelt Road address, according to a woman who answered the phone there Thursday morning.
Naylor was allegedly charged in connection with two assaults, one of which occurred in 2006 and allegedly involved a 16-year-old girl, according to the report.

Details about the other alleged incident were not immediately available Thursday morning.

The victim allegedly identified Naylor in a photo array as the person who approached, displayed a weapon and forced the victim into a vehicle at 7500 S. Lafayette Ave. where the assault occurred May 10, 2006, the report said.

Naylor was identified in the report as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
