LOS ANGELES - President Obama has plenty of advisers, but now he's getting some advice from more than 35,000 kids from around the world.
As part of a national handwriting project called "Mail to the Chief ," students in all 50 states and countries such as Saudi Arabia, Israel, France and Kazakhstan wrote letters asking for everything from clean air to world peace.
"Can you stop the racism and stop the wars? Make people remember their manners," wrote 4th grader Victor from North Carolina.
"Taxes are very high here in Alaska. I'm not too stressed about that but I have friends that have trouble with taxes and sometimes it's hard for them to put food on the table," 5th grader Reilly from Alaska said.
Other students had some more simple requests of Obama.
"My advice I have to offer is always do something that you think is fun," wrote 3rd grader Andy from New York.
The letters were all delivered in large sacks on Wednesday to Rep. Chris Van Hollen, a Maryland Democrat who will forward them to Obama.
