Woman Shot During Street Fight

Chicago, IL - A woman was shot and wounded during a street fight Monday night on the South Side.

About 9:50 p.m., 20-year-old Yonikee Phillips was outside with a group of people she knows at 6158 S. Winchester Ave. when a fight erupted, according to police.

She was apparently watching the fight when a burgundy Chevrolet Malibu pulled up. Two men exited the car and opened fire in the direction of the crowd, striking only Phillips, police said.

She was struck three times in the lower buttocks area and taken in fair but stable condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to police.

The Malibu fled in an unidentified direction and Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
