A double shooting Tuesday morning marked the first time the recently created Will-Grundy Major Crimes Task Force was called out to assist a local police department's investigation.
Paramedics responded to a residence near Blackberry Lane and Bridge Street about 6:30 a.m., according to Channahon Fire Lt. Brian McMillin.
Two adults -- a man and a woman -- were found shot in a basement level apartment inside the two-story building.
The victims were conscious and breathing and taken to a Joliet hospital.
Channahon Police Chief Joe Pena confirmed there was a shooting, but was unable to release details Tuesday morning.
"We are actively searching for bad guys right now and don't want to give out any information that could jeopardize the search," he said.
Pena said detectives were canvassing the neighborhood where the shooting occurred.
