An Elgin Community College professor has been charged with aggravated assault after an incident with a student.
It happened three weeks ago.
Elgin staff members say Professor Robert Harmon yelled at a female student and locked her in his office.
They say the situation escalated to the point where the student had to call a college dean for help.
Campus police referred the student's complaint to the state's attorneys office.
If convicted, Harmon would serve no prison time because it is a misdemeanor charge.
