Chicago - Police allege a couple tried to switch places inside their vehicle after seeing the red lights of a squad car, so both were charged with driving under the influence.
The Veteran's Day incident began shortly after 1 a.m. when an officer spotted a 1997 Lincoln driving erratically on Grand Avenue near Offield Drive. Police said Wednesday the male driver refused to pull over right away, and when the officer walked up to the driver's side window a female was driving instead of the male.
Both appeared intoxicated, police said. Michelle Marenkovich, 24, of 67 Hickory in Fox Lake, and Juan Solano, 30, of 1605 Woodridge Dr. in Round Lake Beach, were both charged with driving under the influence, Lake Vills police Chief Ron Roth said. Solano was also charged with obstructing justice, he said.
