Chicago - An East Chicago neighborhood man died early Thursday after he was crossing the street and hit by a vehicle that fled the scene Nov. 8 near his Far South Side home.
Dennis Pyrkowski, 45, of 11218 S. Ave. L, was pronounced dead at 12:51 a.m. Thursday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
The wreck occurred Nov. 8 at the intersection of South Avenue H and East 105 Street, according to the medical examiner’s office.
About 5:05 p.m. Nov. 8, a vehicle struck two other vehicles and, in the motorists attempt to flee, struck the pedestrian in the crosswalk at 3734 E. 105th St., police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
Alfaro said an arrest has not been made as of 4 a.m. Thursday, and a description of the vehicles was not immediately available.
An autopsy is scheduled for later Thursday.
The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
