Chicago - Update: Punching May Have Been Game >>
More than 250,000 people have viewed an online video that appears to show a thug punching a homeless guy at a Chicago L stop.
The video, which was first posted on World Star Hip Hop, shows several young people joking loudly at the Chicago stop on the Red Line.
Then, a young man follows a homeless man a few steps.
The young man then punches the homeless guy in the face. The man falls backwards and hits the ground, without moving.
The attacker and his friends all bustle on to the outgoing train, laughing, while a stunned witness leans over the man, touches him gently, and calls 911 on her cell phone.
A Facebook page has been created, dedicated to tracking down the alleged attacker.
FOX Chicago News spoke to the attacker's mother on Sunday. She refused to give her name, but admitted that it was her son in the video. She said he had been "going through some things" at the time of the attack. The mother had not seen the video until we showed it to her; his father saw it for the first time on Saturday.
A CTA sign flashing in the video indicates the attack happened in April 2011. FOX Chicago News contacted the CTA on Sunday; we were told that the agency had not heard of the attack until now, and investigators would look into it.
