6 Charged in Indiana Bank Robberies

The U.S. Attorney's office filed charges against six suspects in connection with five robberies at banks across Northwest Indiana in the past eight months.

Gary residents Lamar D. Washington, 19; Montrell D. Jolly, 19; Lajuan T. Lee; Daryl K. Lyons, 28; Delta Wilder, 20; and William C. Sandifer, 18, were charged in a five-count indictment returned in May.

Washington, Jolly and Lee were charged with bank robbery of Centier Bank in Highland, Ind., on Nov. 8, 2008, and, along with Sandifer, again on April 16, 2009.

Wilder was charged with bank robbery of Chase Bank in Hammond, Ind., on Nov. 17, 2008.

Lee, Lyons and Wilder were charged with bank robbery of Harris Bank in Schererville, Ind., on Dec. 24, 2008; and Washington, Lyons and Wilder were charged with robbing Harris Bank in Griffith, Ind., on April 20, 2009.

This case is being investigated by the FBI Gang Response Investigative Team Task Force and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Ratcliffe.
