Chicago, IL. - The shooters responsible for a murder on the South Side Sunday afternoon may have also shot and wounded a 14-year-old before ditching their vehicle and setting it on fire, authorities said.

About 12:15 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of East 93rd Street, police News Affairs Officer JoAnn Taylor said.

Patrick Stribling, 22, of 9228 S. Greenwood Ave., was found shot on the scene and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 1:51 p.m., a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.
The shooters were allegedly driving a Jeep, and after shooting the man once, came back around the block to make sure they struck him again, according to a law enforcement source.

The Jeep may have headed north following the shooting and shot at another person—a 14-year-old boy—about one hour later near 56th Street and Indiana Avenue, the source said.

Taylor said a teen was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital in an unknown condition from the Indiana Avenue address but could not confirm a connection between the two shootings.

After wounding the teen, the Jeep’s drivers allegedly ditched the vehicle and attempted to set it on fire, the source said. Police allegedly recovered the vehicle later Sunday, but the shooters remained at large Sunday night.

Police could not confirm where the vehicle was found.

Calumet Area detectives remained on the scene investigating the 93rd Street murder Sunday night.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating the Indiana Avenue shooting.
