Chicago - A Chicago alderman is taking a hard look at whether mandatory swine flu vaccines for children could stop the spread of the virus.

Ald. George Cardenas raised the question yesterday.

Chicago health officials are against mandatory vaccinations, and federal guidelines do not recommend them.

Meanwhile, free swine flu shots will be available at six city colleges in Chicago.

The city health director told city council yesterday that 54,000 doses should arrive any day now.
