FOX Chicago News and Time Out Chicago
Chicago - With a relatively mild weekend ahead of us, Time Out Chicago has recommendations that will pack it full with seasonal events and charitable activities for any fun-seeking weekender.
All weekend long, from Friday to Sunday, you can head down to Navy Pier and enjoy Snow Days Chicago, the annual snow-sculpting competition. Even with snow missing from the streets, organizers have made ten-foot blocks of powder for teams to carve into ornate masterpieces and the event is free from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Here is one for the couples out there at Bottle & Bottega. On Friday, spend an evening with a drink in one hand and a paintbrush in the other at their Face-to-Face Portraits Class for Couples and BFFs. You will find out just how your friend or special someone really sees you. For the artistically challenged, instructors are on hand to lend a helping hand or brush. Bottle & Bottega, 2900 N Lincoln Ave (773-313-9133, bottleandbottega.com ). 7 to 10 p.m.; $35.
On Saturday, take a dip on the wild side into the welcoming waters of our very own Lake Michigan. The Lakeview Polar Plunge will be storming the waters off of Oak Street Beach in the annual charitable event. All proceeds go to local families with sick children. Oak Street Beach, ( lakeviewpolarbearclub.com ). 11 a.m.; $30, advance $20.
End your weekend with the Night of Fashion, Music & Hope at the Double Door on Sunday. Chicago Bulls guard Kyle Korver and his brother Klayton will join up with musical acts the Barcelonas and the Canes for a concert benefit. All proceeds support Breakthrough Urban Ministries, Life After Hate and Brown Elementary School. The event is at 6:30 p.m. and costs $20. With a t-shirt, it’s $40.
