The Bulldogs put an end to a season-high seven-game losing streak. Brandon Young led DePaul with 24 points. The Blue Demons will end the Big East regular season with at least a share of last place.
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Egidijus Mockevicius tied a career-high with 19 points as No. 9 seed Evansville defeated eighth-seeded Drake 69-61 in the opening round of the Missouri Valley tournament last night. D.J. Balentine added 30 points for Evansville. The Purple Aces face top-seeded Wichita State in the quarterfinals today.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Cyesha Goree scored 18 points as the seventh-seeded Michigan women rolled past No. 10 seed Indiana 82-57 in the opening round of the Big Ten tournament yesterday. The Wolverines will face second-seeded Michigan State in the quarterfinals today. Indiana shot 26 percent from 3-point range and 29 percent from the free-throw line.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Colts have released starting center Samson Satele and made qualifying offers to three players set to become free agents next week. Satele was one of the first free agents Indianapolis signed two years ago when they started rebuilding. He was hobbled by injuries in both seasons. Indianapolis saves about $4 million under the $133 million salary cap.
