Dr. Oz: You Could Have Gluten Intolerance or Celiac Disease

FOX Chicago News

A new season of the Doctor Oz Show is just getting started, and Dr. Mehmet Oz himself joined us now to talk about Thursday’s new episode all about celiac disease and gluten intolerance.

First off, what is gluten intolerance versus celiac disease? It’s an autoimmune reaction to gluten, which is found in mostly wheat products, in which the immune system attacks part of the intestinal tract.

Symptoms are vague sometimes, including bloating, some limited stomach problems, fatigue, migraines, so it’s hard to know if you have it. Dr, Oz said trying a gluten-free diet is his first recommendation if you aren’t feeling right. You might lose weight, but it’s more about finding out what’s right for your body.

The Doctor Oz Show airs on FOX Chicago weekdays at 2 and 4 p.m.
